Hi there! This is Aruna! I am a Registered Dietitian and a Certified Diabetes Educator by profession with an educational background in nutrition & food process engineering. After completing the Masters program, I started my career working in the Food Industry developing and improving the quality of a variety of food products – jams, spreads, sauces, salad dressings, pasta entrees, noodle & potato side dishes to name a few. My passion has always been on the integrative and functional aspects of food & nutrition and the positive effect that it has on our overall well-being. With this passion, I embarked on my career in the healthcare sector.
I am a food enthusiast and people who know me can attest to that! I am always on the lookout for different recipes to keep the meals interesting for my family and then figuring out ways to make it healthier. Of course, having a strong background in the area of food product/ recipe development coupled with a diverse cultural background comes handy.
Food is an experience and the enjoyment of great tasting food is an integral part of healthy eating. Arogya Living is a platform to share food experiences, tips and tools for making great tasting healthy food. My goal is to keep Arogya Living’s Recipe section as my culinary space filled with easy effortless cooking ideas that incorporate an assortment of delicious and nutritious options that are both comforting and well-balanced.
As a registered dietitian, I see the Food Dichotomy (good food vs. bad food) almost every day in my practice. While we need to be mindful of this dichotomy we need to remind ourselves that food is beyond nutrition. I am a big proponent of a holistic approach to food and strive to empower a healthier relationship with food.
Research has shown that “cookie cutter approach” or “all or none approach to foods” does not help in enhancing the wellness among individuals. My offering is to help you get to a healthier you. I will work with you to provide personalized recommendations, customized meal plans that will meet your nutritional needs, promote satiety and offer a wide variety.
